Technology and Disruptive Innovation Are Topics of 2009 Keynote Addresses

With his Emmy award-winning wit, David will share his amusing and insightful perspective on how advancements in personal technology affect our professional and personal lives.

David Pogue is the personal-technology columnist for the New York Times. Each week, he contributes a print column, an online column and an online video. His daily blog, “Pogue’s Posts,” is the Times’s most popular blog.

David is also an Emmy award-winning tech correspondent for CBS News and a frequent guest on NPR’s “Morning Edition." His trademark comic tech videos appear each Thursday morning on CNBC. In addition to these appearances, he’s been profiled on both “48 Hours” and “60 Minutes.”

With over 3 million books in print, David is one of the world’s bestselling how-to authors. He wrote or co-wrote seven books in the “for Dummies” series (including Macs, Magic, Opera, and Classical Music); in 1999, he launched his own series of complete, funny computer books called the Missing Manual series, which now includes 60 titles.

Michael B. Horn

Horn is the co-founder and Executive Director, Education of Innosight Institute, a non-profit think tank devoted to applying the theories of disruptive innovation to problems in the social sector. He is the coauthor of Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns with Harvard Business School Professor and bestselling author Clayton M. Christensen and Curtis W. Johnson, president of the Citistates Group.

The book uses the theories of disruptive innovation to identify the root causes of schools’ struggles and suggests a path forward to customize an education for every child in the way she learns. Horn has been featured as a speaker at many education conferences, including the National Evaluation Systems’ conference and the Grantmakers for Education conference.

In his keynote address on April 16 at CiTE 2009, Michael will share his innovative approaches for teaching and learning.
